This position involves delivering the nationally recognized Individual Placement and Support (IPS) model, focusing on rapid job searches, fostering employer relationships, and ensuring sustained employment outcomes for people with mental health challenges. As an IPS Employment Specialist, you will work closely with clinical and NHS teams, wellbeing services, and local employers across Mid Essex, requiring a valid driver's license for travel.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct vocational profiling for individuals facing serious mental health conditions.
- Execute rapid, preference-based job searching.
- Develop and maintain trustworthy connections with local employers.
- Align job placements with participants' goals and aspirations.
- Prepare candidates for disclosure, interviews, and workplace expectations.
- Offer intensive support to participants post-job commencement.
- Collaborate with clinical teams to oversee risk management and participant wellbeing.
- Monitor job initiation, longevity, and progression.
- Maintain accurate and fidelity-compliant case records.
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Experience or strong interest in mental health services, wellbeing, recovery support, social or community care, recruitment, or people-focused sales.
- Confidence dealing with complex mental health issues.
- Proactive, relationship-oriented, and target-driven mindset.
- Organised and evidence-based in approach.
- Able to maintain professionalism and care while working efficiently.
- Committed to consistency, structure, and achieving outcomes.
Training and Role Demands
Comprehensive IPS training and fidelity guidelines are provided. This role involves supporting individuals with fluctuating mental health conditions such as anxiety, depression, or severe mental illness, requiring rapid transitions into employment and ongoing support. Candidates must be capable of working quickly yet thoroughly, building trust promptly, maintaining calm under pressure, and staying resilient and focused on results.
