About the Opportunity

James Search Group is collaborating with a boutique investment bank based in New York City that specializes in serving lower to middle market companies. The firm is dedicated to capital markets transactions, including private placements, PIPEs, SPAC deals, growth equity fundraising, bridge loans, and IPO processes. Additionally, analysts will gain exposure to select mergers and acquisitions projects. This role allows you to work closely with senior bankers in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting, assisting founder-led and closely held companies in securing capital and managing critical growth and liquidity events.

The client is a well-established boutique investment bank expert in capital raising and strategic counsel for companies with enterprise values typically between $10 million and $150 million. The institution is recognized for its active role in deal execution, deep investor connections, and access to a variety of capital sources such as private equity, family offices, hedge funds, and institutional investors.

Responsibilities

Create and update comprehensive financial models including operating budgets, capitalization tables, dilution analyses, and deal scenarios involving both equity and debt financings.
Support the execution of private placements, PIPE deals, SPAC mergers and de-SPAC processes, bridge financings, and IPOs.
Develop polished investor-facing materials such as pitch decks, confidential information memorandums (CIMs), and management presentations.
Conduct targeted investor research to identify appropriate private equity firms, hedge funds, family offices, and credit investors.
Assist with managing the fundraising lifecycle, including tracking investor outreach, coordinating Q&A sessions, and overseeing virtual data room management.
Analyze company financials and performance indicators to optimally position investment opportunities.
Participate in investor and management calls, as well as transaction discussions with senior team members.
Provide support on select mergers and acquisitions engagements linked to broader capital strategies.

Candidate Profile

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Accounting, or a closely related discipline.
Between one and two years of experience in investment banking, capital markets, or transactional advisory, preferably with exposure to equity or debt raising, PIPEs, or SPAC transactions.
Proficient in financial modeling, with a strong focus on capital structures, dilution, and transaction scenario analysis.
Experienced in creating detailed, investor-ready presentations using PowerPoint.
Exceptional attention to detail with the capacity to handle multiple simultaneous live processes efficiently.
Keen interest in capital markets and working with lower middle market, founder-led businesses.
Excellent verbal and written communication abilities, comfortable engaging with clients and institutional investors.
Proactive self-starter who excels in a fast-moving, entrepreneurial work environment.
