Role Overview
The Internal Auditor position is a full-time on-site role located in Port Harcourt responsible for assessing and enhancing the efficiency of internal controls, risk management, and governance frameworks. This role entails planning and executing audits, reviewing financial and operational records, ensuring compliance with company policies, contracts, and regulatory mandates. The Internal Auditor will prepare detailed audit reports, document findings, suggest corrective measures, and track implementation of recommended improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform regular audits of project sites, payroll, procurement, and warehouse operations to verify conformity with company policies.
- Enforce strict compliance with company regulations, especially related to expenditure and site logistics to reduce financial risks.
- Conduct thorough reviews of site expenditures, labor funds, and contractor payments to confirm alignment with approved budgets.
- Partner with management to pinpoint resource inefficiencies and deliver actionable recommendations for process enhancements.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Proficiency in drafting and evaluating comprehensive audit reports detailing findings, risks, and suggested remedies.
- Must be a married female residing in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
- Strong analytical capabilities to interpret financial data, project costs, operational metrics, and detect trends or irregularities.
- Sound understanding of financial principles and accounting practices, preferably in construction, engineering, or infrastructure industries.
- Effective communication skills suitable for presenting audit outcomes, collaborating across departments, and interacting with various stakeholder levels.
- Experience in conducting financial audits and assessing internal controls, with knowledge of risk-based audit methodologies.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a relevant discipline; professional certifications such as ACA, ACCA, or CIA are advantageous.
- Familiarity with laws, regulations, and standards relevant to construction and EPC activities in Nigeria.
- Competence in Microsoft Office applications and basic audit or ERP software; meticulous attention to detail and high integrity.
- Willingness and capacity to work on-site in Port Harcourt and manage multiple assignments concurrently.
