Overview

Join the Geelong Careers team as an Industry Officer, where you will utilize your trade expertise to contribute towards building better futures. This full-time position is based onsite at Karreenga in Geelong, Victoria, offering an annual salary range from $85,787 to $98,651 plus superannuation.

Role Summary

In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing prisoner work units within commercial and service industries. Your duties include supervising safe and effective daily operations, managing production targets, and supporting workplace training initiatives that help develop valuable employment skills for prisoners.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily industry activities ensuring safety and achievement of production and service goals.
  • Train, assess, and mentor prisoners to enhance practical job skills and prepare them for employment.
  • Maintain detailed records, manage inventory, and uphold quality, safety, and security standards.
  • Perform searches, oversee tool security, and strictly adhere to occupational health and safety policies.
  • Collaborate with prison staff to facilitate prisoner development, promote continuous improvement, and support positive outcomes.

Candidate Profile

The ideal candidate will possess strong trade, manufacturing, or production background with proven supervisory and coaching capabilities. Experience or qualifications in meat processing and a forklift licence are desirable but not essential. Effective communication skills and problem-solving ability are critical for the role, along with the confidence to make informed decisions.
