Role Overview
We are seeking an Import Export Specialist for the Africa North region to join our Supply Chain team based in Accra, Ghana. This role supports operations in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Ghana, Mauritania, Ivory Coast, and Senegal. The specialist will ensure customs compliance and trade governance while promoting operational excellence in all import and export activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee customs compliance monitoring, readiness for audits, and assurance across import/export operations in the targeted region.
- Perform detailed post-clearance and pre-clearance reviews to verify accuracy of customs declarations and related documentation.
- Manage performance of customs brokers, identify any compliance deficiencies, and lead corrective and preventative measures.
- Create and maintain detailed compliance reports, dashboards, and insights to assist with executive decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with internal teams, customs agencies, and regulatory authorities to ensure robust trade governance and adherence to permit requirements.
Candidate Profile
- Holds a relevant degree in Supply Chain, Logistics, International Trade, Commerce, Law, Finance, or related fields.
- Possesses a minimum of five years experience in customs compliance, international trade operations, or managing customs brokers.
- Experienced in conducting customs audits, compliance assessments, and post-clearance reviews.
- Strong understanding of customs valuation, tariff classifications, origin rules, documentation, and permits management.
- Demonstrates strong analytical capabilities, governance and audit knowledge, and effective stakeholder management skills.
- Fluent in English; proficiency in French is considered highly advantageous.
