Job Overview

This position requires an experienced HR professional to oversee adherence to statutory and labor law compliance within manufacturing operations, administer payroll, handle contractor compliance, and interface with regulatory authorities to ensure smooth HR functions and legal conformity.

Core Duties and Responsibilities

  • Ensure complete adherence to all relevant labor laws, statutory rules, and factory legislations including the Factories Act, Industrial Relations Code, Code on Wages, CLRA, Payment of Bonus Act, Gratuity Act, Minimum Wages, and Equal Remuneration regulations.
  • Maintain necessary statutory documentation such as registers, notices, licenses, and ensure timely submission of statutory returns and renewals.
  • Monitor and manage compliance of contract labor and manpower suppliers by verifying documentation, licenses, PF, ESI contributions, wage records, and conduct audits regularly with corrective follow-ups.
  • Develop and keep up-to-date HR policies, standard operating procedures, employee manuals, ensuring they comply with legal frameworks and business goals.
  • Drive awareness and provide advice on policies to line managers and employees; assist in disciplinary measures, domestic inquiries, and grievance processes according to company guidelines.
  • Manage payroll processes end-to-end for permanent staff and coordinate payroll validation for contract workers, including oversight of attendance, allowances, overtime, incentives, and statutory deductions.
  • Ensure punctual remittance of statutory contributions such as PF, ESI, PT, TDS, LWF, and author appropriate reconciliations in cooperation with Finance.
  • Address employee salary queries and guarantee accuracy in payments.
  • Support initiatives that foster employee engagement and uphold a positive workplace environment; assist in resolving grievances and workplace conflicts.
  • Collaborate effectively with Production, EHS, Finance, Legal, Security, and Administration teams to maintain integrated HR and compliance activities and support audits and certification processes.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Commerce, Business Administration, Law, or a similar field.
  • Masters degree or PGDM with specialization in Human Resources is preferred.
  • Certification in Labour Laws or Payroll Management is advantageous.
  • Between five to eight years of HR experience within manufacturing settings covering statutory compliance, payroll, contractor management, and HR operations.
  • Experience interfacing with government bodies for inspections, labor audits, and industrial relations matters is preferred.

Essential Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of Indian labor laws and manufacturing-related statutory compliance.
  • Competence with the Factories Act, PF, ESI, Bonus, Gratuity schemes, Minimum Wages and allied regulations.
  • Proficiency in payroll execution and statutory compliance fulfillment.
  • Expertise in contractor labor management and industrial relations dynamics.
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and HR reporting tools.
