About Kibble

Kibble is a long-established charity dedicated to supporting children and young people aged 5 to 26 who have faced trauma and adversity. We deliver residential care, education, and mental health services to transform individuals and communities. Our dedicated staff operate year-round to ensure young people’s safety and wellbeing.

Role Overview

This position is based at our Early Years Service in Garnoch Lodge, Lochwinnoch. The housekeeper will handle meal planning, preparation, and serving under the Catering Supervisor’s guidance, supporting our accredited Healthy Living Award kitchen. Additional duties include cleaning and maintaining young people's rooms and communal areas, overseen by domestic team leaders.

Main Responsibilities

  • Execute daily cleaning schedules and tasks.
  • Manage linen and laundry by unpacking and organizing.
  • Prepare, cook, and serve meals, contributing to menu creation.
  • Ensure portion control and prepare special dietary meals as needed.
  • Maintain records such as temperature checks for food safety.
  • Uphold hygiene, health, and safety standards in kitchens and assigned areas.
  • Keep kitchen and serving equipment clean, including regeneration units and surfaces.
  • Ensure food service is timely and dispose of waste promptly.
  • Oversee service areas and meal transportation operations.
  • Clean dining rooms after meals and perform washing-up duties.
  • Store food items and cleaning supplies correctly while monitoring stock levels.
  • Handle waste disposal following segregation policies.
  • Respect privacy protocols when entering young people’s rooms and report damages or hazards.
  • Ensure all equipment is suitable for use, reporting faulty or outdated machinery.
  • Comply fully with all relevant policies, procedures, and mandatory training.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Service Manager.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Previous catering and cleaning experience is required.
  • SVQ Level 1 in Housekeeping or Food Preparation and Cookery is preferred.
  • Experience in residential childcare or care environments is desirable.
  • A valid driver’s license is advantageous.
