Host/Hostess Staff

Nature of the Role

The Host/Hostess is responsible for welcoming guests at the entrance following Pizza Delight's service standards, supporting the dining room team with various tasks, and sometimes covering counter service duties.

Key Duties

• Maintain a professional and neat appearance.
• Adhere strictly to health, safety, and WHMIS regulations.
• Follow guidelines for proper use of equipment and upkeep of the restaurant and its equipment.
• Keep the work area continuously clean and well-organized.
• Greet guests, present menus, suggest items, highlight promotions, and respond to customer queries regarding food and beverages.
• Utilize effective sales techniques to enhance customer experience.
• Maintain the presentation of dining room menus.
• Complete additional tasks as assigned by supervisors including bussing and resetting tables and handling incoming phone calls.

Candidate Requirements

This role requires minimal prior experience. Essential personal attributes include strong interpersonal skills, ease in interacting with people, teamwork, adaptability, and good communication abilities. Bilingualism could be necessary. Candidates should demonstrate good personal grooming, confidence, integrity, stress management capabilities, a dynamic attitude, and flexibility.

Work Conditions

Shift schedules are typically predetermined and may vary by daytime, evening, night, or weekends. Evening, weekend, and statutory holiday shifts are common. Part-time positions are possible, with schedules that may include split shifts. Peak periods are often intense with a noisy environment and pressure to maintain consistent work tempo.
