Head of Warehouse Operations

About the Position

Join a dynamic international e-commerce company, headquartered near Fulda, with around 500 employees and multiple proprietary brands. This key role leads two primary logistics facilities—a company-owned warehouse and an external third-party logistics partner (3PL). The Head of Warehouse Operations holds comprehensive accountability for these sites' performance, balancing service quality, productivity, cost-efficiency, and profitability. The position focuses on fostering operational excellence, advancing digital transformation, and supporting sustainable growth.

Main Responsibilities

• Oversee the entire warehouse organization and manage the performance of both e-commerce warehouses, including budget and results responsibility.
• Design and implement a unified warehouse strategy aligning with the broader supply chain and network plans.
• Maintain superior standards of service, quality, and productivity across all locations.
• Develop standardized processes, controls, and management frameworks.
• Lead and nurture management teams, promoting a performance-based, appreciative, and data-driven leadership culture.
• Establish sustainable leadership pipelines and focus on talent growth.
• Manage end-to-end warehouse processes including goods receipt, fulfillment, shipping, and returns handling.
• Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and implement continuous improvements to efficiency, quality, and financial performance.
• Identify and drive initiatives in automation, digitalization, and process optimization.
• Coordinate cross-departmental change management and transformation projects.
• Collaborate closely with internal departments and external logistics providers to enhance the fulfillment network.

Candidate Profile

• Several years of leadership experience in warehouse, fulfillment, or logistics operations.
• Background in e-commerce environments and managing multi-site operations including 3PL partnerships.
• Strong expertise in warehouse management systems (WMS), KPI oversight, and operational excellence practices.
• Business-oriented mindset with a strong focus on cost control and profitability.
• Analytical, methodical, and solution-driven approach to work.
• Excellent communication skills with proven leadership and change management capabilities.
