Position Overview

A leading global insurance organization seeks a Head of Risk for the European region, offering an annual salary ranging from 120,000 to 135,000 euros, along with bonus incentives and additional benefits. Ideal candidates must possess prior experience within the insurance industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Steer the creation and continuous enhancement of the enterprise risk management strategy, clearly defining risk appetite and ensuring its effective integration throughout the company.
• Collaborate closely with senior leaders to deliver risk guidance that balances regulatory compliance with commercial goals and innovation.
• Foster a risk-aware culture that encourages sound decision-making, financial stability, and sustainable business growth.
• Prepare and provide detailed risk reports and governance documentation for executive committees, boards, and risk-focused groups.
• Establish and sustain productive relationships with regulators and supervisory authorities, facilitating regulatory engagement and inspections as necessary.
• Design and implement risk management training programs to boost organizational knowledge and skills.
• Lead initiatives to enhance enterprise-wide risk awareness, promoting strong governance, ethical standards, and ongoing improvement.
• Keep abreast of emerging regulations and evolving risk trends, advising leadership on their implications.
• Ensure the maintenance of a robust financial and enterprise risk framework supported by appropriate policies, controls, and governance structures.
• Work in partnership with the Finance department to manage prudential and capital risk activities including inputs for regulatory submissions, stress testing, scenario planning, recovery strategies, and capital efficiency.
• Provide strategic risk input to business transformation projects and other special assignments.
• Serve as a trusted advisor to executive management, simplifying complex risk matters into actionable business recommendations.
• Lead and mentor the risk management team, ensuring sufficient staffing, succession planning, and skills development.
