About the Role

SDS Design Engineers specializes in comprehensive building design and engineering, with strong expertise in geotechnical, water, civil, and structural engineering segments. With a team of over 40 professionals spanning Ireland and Spain, we are inviting applications for Graduate Civil/Structural Engineers to join our Castlebar, County Mayo office — an area recently acclaimed as the best place to live and work in Ireland.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed drawings, designs, and diagrammatic representations.
• Formulate design concepts and conduct structural design calculations.
• Collaborate effectively with engineers and architects during the drawing and design preparation phases.
• Precisely compute dimensions and allowances for construction accuracy.
• Update and adjust drawings and layouts to incorporate changes and improvements.
• Demonstrate readiness and adaptability to coordinate with various design team professionals, clients, and contractors.
• Engage with external consultants and clients as needed.
• Conduct occasional site visits to take accurate measurements.
• Perform additional related tasks as assigned.

Candidate Requirements

• A degree in civil or structural engineering.
• Preferably practical experience gained from diverse project work during college placements.
• Familiarity with current Irish Building Regulations and knowledge of British and Eurocode design standards for concrete, steel, masonry, and timber.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD and Revit for preparing detailed technical designs and drawings.
• Experience with structural analysis software such as Robot, Staad PRO-QSE, or comparable tools is essential.
• Ability to manage priorities, work under tight deadlines, and consistently deliver quality projects on schedule.
• Excellent command of spoken and written English.
• Self-driven, with strong attention to detail and the capability to research specialized topics effectively.
