Position Overview

The General Labourer will play a vital role in supporting daily operations at the recycling plant by sorting materials safely, removing unwanted contaminants, maintaining cleanliness of the work environment, and adhering to all safety protocols. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and supports a contract commencing in July 2026.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adhere strictly to Company safety policies and procedures ensuring all work is performed safely.
  • Utilize personal protective equipment (PPE) at all times as required.
  • Examine materials and sort items into their designated categories.
  • Extract contaminants from the sorting line to ensure quality.
  • Conduct cleaning duties associated with plant machinery and general housekeeping.
  • Promptly report any operational problems or issues to the Supervisor.
  • Maintain a tidy, orderly workspace and its surrounding areas.
  • Uphold excellent attendance and maintain a strong safety and quality work record.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Capable of performing repetitive physical tasks over long periods and lifting up to 25 pounds.
  • Forklift operating experience is advantageous but not essential; willingness to be trained is required.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to communicate effectively and follow safety instructions and signals.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment which may be influenced by varying weather conditions.
  • Capability to meet deadlines and work efficiently under time constraints.
  • Self-motivated, able to work with minimal supervision, and respond to direction from supervisors.
  • Punctual, dependable, and a cooperative team player.
