Full Stack Engineer

About the Role

ScrapIT Software is seeking a dedicated full-stack developer to maintain and support their web and mobile platform that services recycling and scrap-metal operators across North America. This role involves hands-on responsibility for ensuring the existing, feature-complete application remains stable, dependable, and responsive to a live customer base reliant on it daily.

The platform encompasses several critical functions including dispatch and logistics, weighing and device integration, accounting, compliance, and reporting. The successful candidate will manage day-to-day system upkeep by resolving issues, implementing minor improvements, and ensuring seamless operation. The position benefits from access to modern AI-assisted development tools enabling a single, competent generalist to efficiently manage the full stack.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and support the platform to maintain stability across front-end, back-end, and mobile interfaces, addressing customer issues promptly.
• Debug and rectify problems and make small but effective tweaks to enhance existing features without disrupting live user operations.
• Effectively triage incoming issues based on customer impact and communicate progress and timelines clearly to product owners and support teams.
• Maintain operational integrations including dispatch, weighing devices, GPS, telematics, and alerting systems to ensure reliable function.
• Utilize AI-driven development tools to maximize efficiency and independence in managing the complete stack.

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of three years professional experience in full-stack software development.
• Proficiency in React for front-end development and C# with .NET Core for back-end services.
• Residency in Canada with the ability to work aligned with North American business hours.
• Experience with React Native or similar mobile development frameworks.
• Strong skills in SQL Server including query writing, debugging, and troubleshooting data-related issues.
• Comfortable maintaining and troubleshooting an existing, inherited codebase rather than building new solutions from scratch.
• Solid understanding of REST API principles, Git version control, and general web architecture.
• Self-motivated and reliable with clear communication abilities in written and spoken English.

Desirable Skills

• Familiarity with Microsoft Azure services, particularly App Services and associated cloud technologies.
• Experience integrating hardware or IoT peripherals such as scales, printers, or GPS and telematics equipment.
• Knowledge of sectors such as ERP, logistics and dispatch, waste and recycling, or other operations-intensive domains.
• Hands-on experience using AI coding assistants like Claude Code or Codex.
