Role Overview

As the Founding Designer, you will be at the forefront of defining Harmony's product language, user interfaces, and brand voice. This position demands ownership of the entire visual system, UI components, and the editorial tone used daily by factory shift teams. The role requires a hands-on approach designing for authentic factory environments, focusing on clarity, speed, and reliability rather than distant analytics dashboards.

You'll collaborate closely with company founders, conduct on-site factory visits, and directly influence how the Harmony experience feels across product, brand, and communications.

Key Responsibilities

• Design interfaces for operators, supervisors, planners, and leadership that prioritize speed, clarity, and usability in real factory settings.
• Develop and maintain Harmony's visual language including layouts, UI patterns, hierarchy, and core components.
• Craft interfaces optimized for floor use with attention to readability and practical operational contexts.
• Collaborate with engineering and founders to translate complex real-world challenges into clear, production-ready designs.
• Shape the Harmony brand by defining its appearance, tone, and communication style across product, website, recruitment, marketing, presentations, and editorial content.
• Create and manage a consistent design system that embodies the company’s industrial, sharp, human, grounded, and premium identity.
• Ensure uniformity across product UI, marketing collateral, and customer-facing materials.
• Spend time onsite observing users to refine workflows, interfaces, and communication based on direct feedback.
• Complete at least one product deployment in a factory setting within the first six months to ground design solutions in real-world application.

Candidate Profile

• Exceptional product design sensibility capable of making intricate workflows feel simple, fast, and clear.
• Experience working across product design, UI, branding, and editorial domains.
• Comfortable with ambiguity and eager to shape company direction with proactive ownership.
• Excellent judgment to prioritize essential user experience elements and streamline complexity.
• Passion for designing software used in industrial and operational environments.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Experience designing production or operational software, workflow tools, or complex systems.
• Ability to extend design thinking beyond screens to shape overall company feel through product and brand.
• Strong visual design capabilities with a flair for creating distinct and polished design languages.
• Proven track record collaborating closely with founders and engineering teams in fast-paced environments.
• Willingness to travel to factories to gather hands-on customer insights.
