Qualifications
- Completion of High School Diploma or GED
- Possession of a valid state driver's license, with requirement to obtain a Florida driver's license within 30 days of hire or promotion
- Valid Florida Emergency Medical Technician or Paramedic certification
- State of Florida Firefighter Certificate of Compliance (Firefighter II Certification)
- Successful completion of the IAFF/IAFC Candidate Physical Ability Test (CPAT) within one year prior to the posting's close date
- Meeting the physical capabilities standard set by the Cape Coral Fire Department
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Responding to fire and medical emergencies alongside fire or rescue units, including basic and advanced life support operations on various units such as engine, rescue, and marine units
- Removal and rescue of individuals from hazardous situations; recognition of urgent symptoms and aiding in life-saving procedures
- Performing salvage tasks including deployment of salvage covers, clearing water and debris, and operating smoke ejectors
- Connecting hoses and pumps, managing hose lines and nozzles, and entering burning structures to extinguish fires
- Using handheld fire extinguishing devices, climbing ladders, and ventilating smoke and gases from burning buildings
- Conducting daily inspections of firefighting equipment and notifying supervisors about faults; cleaning and maintenance within assigned stations
