Role Overview

Join the Blades Process Engineering team within the Finish & Paint department focused on production documentation that supports manufacturing of wind turbine blades. This role involves ownership of creating and updating production work instructions, process and inspection documents, and maintaining PFMEA inputs based on collaboration with process engineers. The team prioritizes modern documentation standards and rapid updates to support production stability and performance in Safety, Quality, Delivery, and Cost (SQDC).

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and revise production documentation, including work instructions and inspection procedures, for Finish & Paint operations.
  • Ensure updated documentation is accessible and current on the shop floor.
  • Adhere rigorously to established documentation principles and standards.
  • Engage actively with shop floor teams to gather feedback on documentation quality and usability.
  • Conduct internal quality and maturity audits of documentation against defined criteria.
  • Communicate documentation progress and lead times to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to cultivating a culture of excellence, innovation, and accountability.
  • Integrate learnings from modern digital tools such as process vision and laser systems to enhance documentation effectiveness.
  • Investigate and resolve production issues using structured problem-solving techniques like 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Implement continuous improvement initiatives using Lean methodologies to minimize waste and improve process efficiency and product quality.

Required Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related field.
  • Green Belt Six Sigma certification or equivalent expertise.
  • Training in technical writing or communication methodologies.
  • Approximately 3 to 5 years of experience in similar roles involving manufacturing documentation.
  • Ability to create process flows and maintain work instructions in paper or digital formats.
  • Experience with validating work quality and understanding control plans.
  • Familiarity with working in data-driven environments.
  • Proven track record of driving documentation optimization and standardization.

Competencies and Skills

  • Excellent communication and writing abilities with skill in simplifying complex technical information.
  • Strong technical understanding relevant to manufacturing processes and shop floor operations.
  • Exceptional attention to detail ensuring document accuracy and compliance.
  • Willingness to spend time on the factory floor to observe and solve issues firsthand.
  • Competence in quality and problem-solving tools such as 5 Whys and Fishbone diagrams.
  • Self-motivated, results-driven with strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across a large, multicultural organization and build networks with diverse stakeholders.
  • Customer-focused mindset with an understanding of the entire business value chain.
