Role Overview
The Ghana Institute of Languages is looking to hire a Finance Officer to lead its finance function and support the institute’s budgeting, accounting, and financial management activities.
Key Duties
- Serve as the head of the institute’s Finance Department.
- Compile, present, and explain the institute’s final accounts to the Board of Management each year.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities for the institute.
- Work with Ministries, Departments, and Agencies on finance-related issues affecting the institute.
- Prepare and present the annual estimates for review and defense.
- Develop the institute’s yearly operating budget for approval.
- Carry out and uphold accounting policies and financial control procedures.
- Handle additional tasks assigned by the Director.
Qualifications and Experience
- Applicants must be Chartered Accountants with at least 6 years of work experience after qualification.
- A master’s degree in Accounting or Finance is mandatory.
- Experience with accounting software designed for tertiary institutions is required.
- Prior work experience in a tertiary institution will be considered an advantage.
- Candidates must be 50 years old or younger.

Shortlisted candidates were expected to send an application letter, seven copies of their CV, date of birth, contact details, referees’ addresses, certified copies of academic certificates, and the National Service Certificate by 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, 22 May 2019.
Applications could be submitted by mail to The Acting Director, Ghana Institute of Languages, P.O. Box M67, Accra, or by hand delivery to the Principal Administrative Officer, Third Floor, Room 9, Ghana Institute of Languages, Adabraka, Accra.
Each candidate’s three referees were also required to send confidential reports directly to either submission address by the same deadline.
The application envelope was to be clearly labeled with the job title and, for Lecturer and Tutor roles, the preferred branch.
