Job description
Position Overview
The Facilities Services Representative (FSR) works under the supervision of the Team Lead of Hospitality Services. This role involves maintaining cleanliness in non-patient care areas, managing waste and linen services, supporting project work, coordinating moves, and setting up meeting rooms for hospital events within Quinte Health.
Responsibilities
- Deliver thorough cleaning of common and auxiliary areas and internal/external equipment across the hospital locations.
- Replenish supplies within designated areas to maintain operational readiness.
- Handle laundry-related tasks such as inventory management, distribution, and online ordering of linens.
- Operate industrial washing and drying machines efficiently and safely.
- Carry out core housekeeping functions including collection, disposal, and transport of all waste types, confidential materials, supplies, and equipment following prescribed protocols.
- Participate actively in planned cleaning projects and special assignments as scheduled.
- Maintain and clean machinery like compactors, shredders, and balers; execute processing of materials per organizational guidelines and keep accurate records.
- Report identified maintenance issues promptly to the Team Leader for resolution.
- Transport hospital equipment and supplies to correct locations safely using proper handling techniques.
Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 education or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Effective communication skills with customers and colleagues.
- Team-oriented attitude and willingness to contribute positively to workplace solutions.
- Demonstrated empathy and concern for patient comfort and care.
- Ability to comprehend written instructions and perform basic arithmetic tasks.
- Strong attendance record and satisfactory job performance in prior roles.
- Physical capability for heavy lifting and using safety ladders.
- Flexibility to adapt to schedule changes, different assignments, and various work environments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast-paced setting.
- Successful completion of required training within the probation period.
- Knowledge of safe handling of industrial housekeeping chemicals.
- Experience in overhead cleaning is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Prior experience in hospital housekeeping duties.
- Skill in operating hospital-grade equipment such as auto scrubbers, burnishers, swing machines, and steamers.
- Experience with floor refinishing including stripping, waxing, and carpet cleaning.
- Competence in using industrial washers and dryers.
- Familiarity with basic technological devices including computers, pagers, and smartphones.
- Possession of a clear Criminal Record and Vulnerable Sector Check.
Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting of 10-25 pounds; infrequent lifting up to 60 pounds.
- Frequent standing and walking on hard floors; occasional crouching, squatting, bending, and climbing.
- Normal range of motion in neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, and back required for frequent reaching and material handling.
