Job description

Role Overview

We invite pilots to express interest in joining Air New Zealand's turboprop fleet as a First Officer, piloting ATR and Dash 8 Q300 aircraft. Positioned in the right-hand seat, you will be responsible for transporting customers safely to their destinations across various bases throughout New Zealand.

Key Responsibilities and Opportunities

Serving as a First Officer on turboprop aircraft offers an excellent career starting point, either for continued growth within propeller planes or as a stepping stone towards our jet fleet. Beyond flying, you will be encouraged to demonstrate leadership and engage in continuous career development, including training, management, and project opportunities.

Mandatory Qualifications and Requirements

  • Current NZCAA CPL or ATPL qualification (NZCAA ATPL or all ATPL subjects completed is preferred)
  • NZCAA Multi-Engine Instrument Rating (MEIR)
  • Class 1 Medical Certificate from NZCAA
  • Minimum 500 total flight hours
  • At least 25 night flying hours
  • Minimum 40 hours of Instrument Flight Time
  • Endorsements for Basic and Advanced Turboprop Knowledge (BTK/BGT)
  • English Language proficiency at Level 6
  • Valid citizenship or residency status (New Zealand citizen, permanent resident, resident or Australian citizen), including valid passport and necessary visas for international travel

Additional Eligibility Notes

If your pilot qualifications were obtained outside New Zealand, you may still be eligible provided you are in the process of converting your foreign credentials to NZCAA licenses through the formal NZCAA Foreign Licence Conversion process. An initial assessment letter through Aspeq must be submitted before you are invited for an interview.

Recruitment Process Details

Due to a high volume of highly qualified candidates, the recruitment process might take time. Applicants are encouraged to keep their application profiles updated with any relevant changes in flight experience or qualifications during the consideration period.

Commitment to Diversity and Inclusion

Air New Zealand is dedicated to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace that values all individuals' unique perspectives and contributions. We embrace these values as core strengths that distinguish our operations in the aviation industry.
