Job description
Role Overview
This position involves creating, testing, commissioning, and supporting PLC and HMI programs alongside industrial automation solutions tailored for machine and process automation projects. The selected candidate will need robust expertise in PLC coding, HMI design, system integration, troubleshooting, and on-site commissioning.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, alter, debug, test, and enhance PLC programs for machines, processes, and automation environments.
- Design machine operation sequences, interlocks, safety mechanisms, diagnostics, and control protocols.
- Manage I/O assignments, integrate field devices, configure hardware, and lead system commissioning activities.
- Set up and manage communication networks for PLC systems and interface with third-party hardware.
- Develop user-friendly HMI/SCADA screens with functionalities like alarm handling, trend visualization, recipe management, diagnostics, and data logging.
- Establish communication links between HMI and PLC using industrial standard protocols.
- Execute Factory and Site Acceptance Tests and resolve automation issues encountered during machine start-up and commissioning phases.
- Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, and commissioning teams to ensure seamless project delivery.
- Offer technical guidance through customer validation stages and initial production periods.
- Undertake travel to customer locations for installation, commissioning, and providing technical assistance as needed.
- Document PLC software designs, maintain I/O listings, control process narratives, testing procedures, and prepare commissioning reports.
- Oversee software versioning, backups, and change tracking to uphold quality and compliance.
- Adhere to safety standards, project specifications, and company engineering protocols.
- Assist in integrating advanced technologies such as robotics, vision systems, and motion controls.
- Engage in Industry 4.0 and IIoT projects focused on data collection, diagnostics, and remote monitoring solutions.
