Job description
Overview
Join Alcoa Australia as an Emergency Services Officer based at Willowdale, Western Australia, playing a key role in ensuring the safety of personnel, assets, and operations within the WA Mining sector. This permanent position operates on a 2 days on, 2 nights on, followed by 5 days off roster, emphasizing hands-on emergency response and workplace safety.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage emergency responses, handling incidents and alarms according to established site emergency procedures.
- Deliver pre-hospital care and medical treatment during emergencies on-site.
- Coordinate and support the Emergency Response Team with training sessions, drills, and post-incident reviews.
- Ensure all emergency equipment and systems are maintained for immediate operational readiness.
- Advise and plan for high-risk operational activities, including developing rescue plans and conducting workplace inspections.
- Manage site access control, asset protection, and effective communication with internal teams, contractors, visitors, and external emergency agencies.
Candidate Profile
- Possess Certificate III in Emergency Response and Rescue or Public Safety with relevant rescue and firefighting qualifications.
- Hold Certificate IV in Health Care, current Provide First Aid certification, drug and alcohol testing competence, and a Heavy Rigid vehicle license.
- Demonstrated practical experience in emergency response, rescue operations, and providing pre-hospital medical care.
- Excellent communication, organizational, and decisiveness skills especially under emergency conditions.
- Capability to foster positive collaborations with employees, contractors, site leadership, medical staff, and external emergency services.
- Commitment to health and safety best practices, operational preparedness, and maintaining physical fitness required for role duties.
