Role Overview

The Electrical Technician specializes in diagnosing and repairing vehicle electrical, electronic, and high-voltage systems across traditional, hybrid, and fully electric vehicles. This role demands advanced technical skills for resolving complex electrical faults, performing ECU programming, software updates, and calibrating ADAS systems according to OEM protocols. As the automotive industry shifts towards electrification and software-driven technologies, this position is pivotal in ensuring repair accuracy, safety, and maintaining workshop efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed diagnostics and repairs of intricate electrical and electronic vehicle systems, including CAN bus, body control modules, infotainment, and powertrain electronics.
• Use OEM diagnostic tools, electronic testing devices, and scan platforms for advanced fault detection and tracing.
• Implement ECU flashing, software updates, and programming of control modules following manufacturer instructions.
• Perform accurate calibration of ADAS, sensor alignments, key coding, and immobilizer programming as needed.
• Execute diagnostics, maintenance, and repairs on high-voltage systems in electric and hybrid vehicles, including battery health and inverter inspections.
• Handle and maintain high-voltage batteries safely, ensuring proper storage and calibration of specialized diagnostic equipment.
• Adhere strictly to high-voltage safety procedures such as lockout/tagout, system isolation, and personal protective equipment use.
• Complete all repairs in compliance with OEM-approved methods, tools, and safety criteria.
• Maintain precise documentation of diagnostic processes, fault codes, tests, and repairs within Dealer Management Systems and warranty portals.
• Provide technical guidance and support to general technicians and supervisors on challenging electrical issues.
• Escalate unresolved problems to technical engineers or OEM support lines promptly.
• Contribute to the team’s technical growth through knowledge sharing, training, and participation in technical updates and bulletins.

Educational and Experience Requirements

• Possess a Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
• Preferred OEM certifications in electrical diagnostics, electric vehicle systems, or high-voltage safety.
• Have 4 to 6 years of professional experience as an automotive technician with strong focus on electrical/electronic systems.
• Demonstrated ability to handle complex diagnostics, ECU programming, and electronic fault resolution is essential.
• Experience working with electric, hybrid, or plug-in hybrid vehicles is highly desirable.

Technical Skills Required

• Expert knowledge of OEM diagnostic tools and electronic scanning platforms.
• Understanding of vehicle communication networks like CAN, LIN, and Ethernet.
• Ability to read and interpret complex electrical wiring diagrams and schematics.
• Proficiency in ADAS calibration equipment, key programming instruments, and oscilloscope diagnostics.
• Familiarity with Dealer Management Systems, warranty processes, and official technical reference sources.
• Knowledge of EV/HV safety protocols and battery management systems.
