Electrical Technician

Role Overview

Goltens Worldwide is hiring an Electrical Technician in Singapore for the Diesel Department. The role reports to the Technical Manager – Diesel and focuses on marine electrical and electronics work for vessels and power plants.

Key Responsibilities

• Handle installation, servicing, repair, and replacement of marine AC/DC electrical and electronic systems on board vessels and in power plant environments.
• Diagnose faults for customers, suggest practical fixes, and prepare repair, replacement, or installation estimates based on the issue identified.
• Determine which components need replacement and arrange the required parts or repair services as needed.
• Support the Mechanical Foreman in completing electrical work within the allotted timeline.
• Coordinate with the Department Manager, Repair Managers, and Service Engineers to meet electrical repair requirements and schedule troubleshooting or equipment repair work.
• Plan jobs effectively, manage time well, and organize the tools, equipment, consumables, and parts needed for each assignment.
• Read and interpret technical drawings and documents to select the right repair method, parts, and procedures.
• Inspect finished work and verify whether the repair has been completed successfully.
• Work efficiently with strong job planning and time management.
• Follow all required safety practices, including use of protective equipment and relevant OSHA rules, for self and mechanical technicians.
• Place safety and health first at all times while complying with the company’s environment, health, and safety policy.
• Take on any additional duties assigned by management.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Diploma/ITE-level electrical qualification, with at least an ITE certificate in electrical.
• Minimum 5 years of experience in electrical repair work.
• Good practical knowledge of marine electrical and electronics systems, including installation, maintenance, repair, and replacement.
• Ability to perform well under pressure.
• Capable of working independently, professionally, and efficiently.
• Strong communication abilities.
• Supervisory skills are an advantage and expected for the role.
• Familiarity with the marine industry.
