Role Summary

The Electrical Draftsman will work on-site in Qatar and will be responsible for producing detailed electrical drawings, schematics, and layouts for building and infrastructure projects. The position requires ensuring that all drawings align with project requirements, local regulations, and applicable standards.

Key Duties

In this role, you will create and revise shop drawings and as-built drawings, reflect design updates and site observations in the documents, and coordinate closely with engineers and project teams. You will also use CAD/BIM software, keep drawing files organized, assist with technical submittals, and participate in coordination discussions to help close design and installation issues. Close collaboration with Civil and MEP teams is essential to maintain accurate, timely, and well-managed documentation.

Qualifications and Requirements

The ideal candidate should have strong command of electrical drafting tools such as AutoCAD, Revit, or comparable CAD/BIM applications, along with the ability to prepare precise electrical layouts and schematics. A good understanding of building electrical systems is required, including power distribution, lighting, low-current systems, and the relevant standards and local rules. Experience with shop drawings, as-built drawings, and coordination drawings is important, as is the ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and construction documents accurately. Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills are needed to work with engineers, site staff, and project managers while maintaining version control and orderly documentation. Prior experience in an Electrical Draftsman or similar drafting position within construction or contracting is preferred, ideally in Qatar or the GCC. A diploma or technical qualification in Electrical Engineering, Drafting, or a related field is required, while higher engineering education is considered an advantage. Knowledge of health, safety, and quality practices in engineering and construction settings is also expected.
