Role Overview

The Education Counsellor role focuses on offering expert guidance to international students, helping them select educational institutions that align with their academic and career goals. This involves providing accurate information on study options, local culture, and education systems, assisting with admissions paperwork, facilitating enrolment processes, and actively promoting IDP's services. The ideal candidate must have practical experience with higher education admissions counselling and immigration procedures related to UK and Ireland destinations. The position is based in Osu, Ghana.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive counselling to prospective students, assisting with the identification of appropriate study programs and institutions.
  • Arrange and conduct discussions via phone or in-person to explain course details, ensuring student needs are fully understood and met.
  • Guide students in creating a focused application shortlist to optimize counselling efficiency.
  • Support students throughout admission, visa application, and pre-departure stages.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with students and their families to sustain IDP's reputation as a trusted and professional service provider.
  • Uphold high standards of integrity and ethical behaviour in all interactions.
  • Consistently deliver exceptional service aimed at converting prospective students into applicants and enrolments.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities to generate new leads by networking with schools, universities, companies, and scholarship organizations.
  • Utilize CRM systems effectively to manage counselling processes, record leads, and track follow-up actions for successful applications.
  • Maintain regular engagement with key account partners, including schools and scholarship bodies.
  • Respond promptly and accurately to inquiries received face-to-face, by phone, or email.
  • Manage application submissions, securing offers, and ensuring timely enrolment processes.
  • Develop cooperative relationships with educational institution staff to facilitate smooth application handling.
  • Provide post-arrival support to students and refer to relevant support agencies when required.
  • Collaborate with network counsellors to ensure continuous onshore student support.
  • Attend client briefings, workshops, and institution visits to deepen knowledge and strengthen partnerships.
  • Work with office management and institutions to strategize promotion efforts effectively.
  • Conduct all client interactions with utmost professionalism and integrity.

Qualifications and Experience

  • A bachelor's or master's degree from a recognized university.
  • Between 2 to 4 years of experience in managing study abroad programs focusing on the UK and Ireland.
  • Proven background in a sales or customer service-oriented environment, with a track record of meeting individual and team targets.
  • Thorough understanding of the education sector, student placement in vocational education and training (VET) and universities, including immigration processes.
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications or prior experience as an Education Counsellor or in an equivalent role.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills, fluent in English, both spoken and written.
