Overview
The Duties and Resourcing Team is seeking a Duty Planner to join their operational support unit at the Operations Complex in Sheffield. This permanent full-time position involves managing the deployment and rostering of police officers and staff to align with Force priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Utilize GRS software and Microsoft applications to design, update, and analyze duties data including weekly to annual rosters, ensuring operational requirements such as holidays, sickness, rest days, police regulations, and minimum staffing are met.
- Create and distribute planned duty schedules to personnel, conveying changes promptly while adhering to policy and regulations.
- Maintain and update force duty databases and organizational structures to reflect personnel and operational adjustments, including changes in names, codes, locations, shifts, and rotations.
- Detect and report configuration issues within duty management systems, collaborating with HR system administrators to address concerns.
- Maintain comprehensive records associated with workforce matters such as leave, sickness, and training.
- Prepare duty rosters for special operations and events as required by the force.
- Identify and escalate any risks to normal business functioning related to staffing or resources in a timely manner.
- Perform additional duties related to the role as necessary.
Required Skills and Experience
- Proficient in Windows-based applications and manual record keeping.
- Excellent verbal and written communication abilities.
- Strong interpersonal skills for effective interaction across all organizational levels, particularly when managing overtime allocation.
- Experience meeting targets within service level agreements and deadlines.
- Demonstrated attention to detail with a systematic and thorough approach to work tasks.
- Analytical skills sufficient to extract and interpret relevant data mathematically.
