Role Overview

As a Driver Trainer based in Wacol, Queensland, you will focus on enhancing driver skills, ensuring compliance, and promoting operational excellence throughout the organisation. Your responsibilities include delivering various training programs, assessing driver competencies, coaching on safety and compliance, maintaining records, and supporting incident investigations to foster a culture of safety and continuous improvement.

Primary Responsibilities

• Conduct multiple driver training sessions such as inductions, onboarding, equipment handling, and refresher courses.
• Evaluate driver competencies for both prospective and current drivers, providing comprehensive reports and suggestions.
• Offer coaching aimed at safe, compliant, and efficient driving practices, including managing fatigue and load restraint.
• Maintain thorough training documentation and ensure compliance with mandatory requirements.
• Participate in investigations relating to driver incidents and aid in establishing corrective measures.
• Collaborate with training leadership to assess training needs and prepare future schedules.
• Assist in developing professional training materials aligned with adult learning principles.

Key Qualifications and Experience

• Proficient heavy vehicle driver and material handling equipment operator with preferred licenses including LF and MC.
• Certified trainer and assessor experienced in coaching and mentoring drivers.
• Strong knowledge of transport compliance standards including heavy vehicle mass management, fatigue regulations, dangerous goods handling, and road transport rules.
• Understanding of workplace health and safety regulations, quality systems, and logistics operations.
• Excellent communication, presentation, problem-solving, and record-keeping skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within teams.
• Competence with IT tools such as Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Learning Management Systems.

Required Licenses and Certifications

• Certificate IV or Diploma in Workplace Training and Assessment.
• Heavy Vehicle Driver Licence (MC preferred).
• Forklift licence mandatory.
