Job Overview and Location

We are seeking an experienced SQL Database Administrator with over 5 years of expertise to join our team in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This is a contract position requiring onsite presence.

Key Responsibilities and Technical Expertise

• Expertly administer multiple versions of Microsoft SQL Server, from 2012 through 2022, with a solid grasp of physical and logical database design principles.
• Monitor and optimize both Microsoft SQL Server and operating system performance, implementing necessary adjustments to maintain system efficiency.
• Implement SQL Server high availability solutions such as Always On, database mirroring, replication, and log shipping to ensure data reliability.
• Manage and configure cluster setups, including active-passive and active-active SQL Server clustering environments.
• Handle multiple tasks efficiently, including incident and ticket management, system upgrades, and deployments.
• Develop and execute disaster recovery solutions, particularly using SAN-based replication techniques.
• Carry out SQL Server upgrades and apply patches to keep systems current and secure.
• Migrate data across different SQL Server versions or instances and integrate data from diverse sources.
• Analyze and enhance database performance through index optimization, query tuning, and resource management using tools like SQL Profiler and Database Tuning Advisor.
• Administer SQL Server business intelligence services, including Reporting Services (SSRS), Analysis Services (SSAS), and Integration Services (SSIS).
• Ensure database security by implementing features such as Dynamic Data Masking and other SQL Server security mechanisms.
• Generate and interpret performance reports utilizing SQL Server Management Data Warehouse and Performance Dashboard reports.
• Create SQL scripts to automate ongoing maintenance tasks and streamline database operations.
• Possess strong knowledge to tune SQL Server queries effectively and manage network and storage systems.
• Interface SQL Server data with other relational database management systems like Oracle and open-source databases through linked servers and gateways.
• Demonstrate understanding of cloud system architecture; Azure certification is advantageous.
• Optimize database system administration activities including capacity planning, auditing, and integration with tools such as Power BI and SCOM.
• Apply critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to reduce downtime by proactive event log and database log analysis, rapid restoration of service outages, root cause identification, and preventive remediation.
• Review and plan server architecture consolidation, balancing performance maintenance with minimal downtime and cost-saving initiatives.
• Operate effectively in large operational technology environments that combine standard TCP/IP and nonstandard networking protocols.
