Position Overview
Become an integral part of a mission-focused team dedicated to utilizing data to positively impact over 24,000 PK–12 students. As a vital contributor to the Strategic Data Team, the Data Analyst will help empower school and district leaders by delivering accurate and practical insights that promote student achievement. Reporting to the Administrator of Strategic Data and Accountability, you will design and sustain innovative tools to monitor key performance indicators that align with district goals. Your responsibilities include coaching and training on existing data tools and conducting ad hoc analyses to influence decisions ranging from instructional strategies to district-wide planning.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Strategic Data Team to supply actionable data supporting teaching and learning across the district.
- Provide training, coaching, and assistance to schools in data acquisition, analysis, and interpretation.
- Engage with stakeholders to gather data requirements and define reporting needs.
- Create and enhance reports and dashboards in Power BI that address stakeholder needs consistent with district priorities.
- Develop and refine early warning systems, key performance indicators, and tools for monitoring district performance.
- Deliver data reports that help the district and individual schools track progress toward goals.
- Encourage a culture where users can independently access and utilize data.
- Respond promptly to internal and external data requests.
- Execute precise queries on relational databases for routine and special data needs.
- Audit data submissions to state reporting systems such as EPIMS, SIMS, SCS, and SSDR before release.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by senior administrators including the CIO and Superintendent.
Qualifications
- Interest or experience in K-12 education environment is essential.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Statistics, Economics, Mathematics, or a related discipline is required; a Master's degree is preferred.
- Prior experience conducting research and data analysis within K-12 education is advantageous.
- Knowledge in designing and executing user-friendly dashboards and reports, preferably within a data warehousing or business intelligence framework.
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or similar reporting tools is preferred.
- Proven ability to manage complex projects and balance multiple priorities effectively.
- Skill in advising senior leadership and assisting in resolving strategic, policy, and operational challenges using data insight.
- Strong creativity, strategic thinking, problem-solving capabilities, and leadership qualities.
- Excellent communication, presentation, and facilitation skills for meetings.
- Aptitude for building and maintaining strong working relationships with school officials, department heads, and community members.
