Role Overview
The position is essential as a data analyst supporting the logistics and financial sectors with an emphasis on Defense Medical Logistics Standard Support (DMLSS). Responsibilities include leveraging expert skills in DMLSS, Microsoft Excel, and Power Query to manage and analyze sizeable complex datasets. A significant function is to facilitate compliant and precise data processes supporting the congressionally mandated Air Force Working Capital Fund (AFWCF) audit, ensuring traceability and adherence to financial reporting protocols. The role requires onsite attendance three days weekly in Frederik, MD; Falls Church, VA; or San Antonio, TX.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform advanced data extraction, modeling, and analysis related to logistics and supply chain in DMLSS.
- Develop and maintain data structures for tracking inventory, procurement, and operational status.
- Assume the role of DMLSS data architecture and reporting Subject Matter Expert.
- Support ongoing AFWCF audits with data analytics ensuring financial and logistic data alignment and transparency for FIAR compliance.
- Respond swiftly to audit requests by generating precise, reproducible data models.
- Create automated and repeatable data transformation workflows primarily through Microsoft Excel and Power Query.
- Aggregate and sanitize large datasets from multiple Department of Defense legacy systems.
- Build scalable dashboards providing actionable insights to organizational leadership.
Experience and Skills Required
- Proven advanced experience working with DMLSS.
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex array formulas and VBA scripting.
- Expertise in Power Query and M code for data transformations.
- Prior involvement in Department of Defense or federal financial audits, particularly those relating to AFWCF.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience transitioning legacy Excel and Power Query models to advanced visualization platforms such as Power BI.
- Familiarity with DoD logistics systems beyond DMLSS, including LogiCole as part of system modernization efforts.
- Understanding of Business Intelligence Central Services (BCS) with proficiency in SQL for ad hoc reporting.
