Contracts Officer

About the Role

Queensland University of Technology (QUT) is seeking a Contracts Officer to join the Office of Research Services within the Research Portfolio of the Academic Division. This ongoing full-time position is primarily responsible for independently overseeing low to medium risk research contracts across all faculties, ensuring due diligence, risk assessment, and record management. The role requires expertise in research agreements, especially those of low to moderate risk, with some experience handling high risk contracts under supervision.

Responsibilities

• Manage the development and negotiation of low to medium risk research contracts independently.
• Review and assess contract risks and perform due diligence efficiently.
• Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with institutional policies regarding research agreements.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to facilitate contract processes.
• Support the Office of Research Services’ goal to attract and manage competitive and commercial research funding.

Candidate Requirements

• A university degree with at least four years of relevant experience post-graduation.
• Proven experience independently managing research contract negotiation and development involving low to moderate risk agreements; ability to handle high risk contracts with supervision.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to devise solutions to complex issues.
• Capability to interpret and apply policies and procedures in a multifaceted organizational environment.
• Self-motivated with experience in record keeping, task management, and leading projects to completion.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills for effective negotiation and stakeholder interaction.
• Ability to work well within a high-performing team setting.

Employment Details and Benefits

• Annual salary ranges from $122,852 to $134,385 (HEW 7 salary classification), which includes a base salary of $103,811 to $113,557 plus 17% superannuation and 17.5% recreation leave loading.
• Position location is primarily at Kelvin Grove with hybrid working options available.
