Role Overview
The Contract Manager role involves leading contractual and commercial governance concerning foundation engineering projects. This position acts as the primary liaison between legal, commercial, procurement, and project delivery teams, facilitating the drafting and negotiation of contracts, managing variations and claims, and safeguarding the company’s commercial interests throughout the project lifecycle.
Key Responsibilities
- Create, assess, and negotiate contracts with clients, subcontractors, and suppliers for ongoing and future projects.
- Supervise contract performance ensuring adherence to legal, regulatory, and internal standards.
- Oversee the lifecycle management of contract variations and claims from initiation to closure.
- Collaborate effectively with project management, commercial, and procurement teams to maintain control over contractual and commercial risks.
- Maintain comprehensive and audit-compliant contract files and documentation.
- Assist with risk mitigation and dispute resolution, escalating matters as necessary.
- Generate clear, informative reports for senior management decision-making.
- Contribute to controlling costs and protecting revenues across project portfolios.
- Serve as a reliable point of contact for all contractual issues among internal and external stakeholders.
Qualifications and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree in Law, Engineering, Construction Management, Business, or related disciplines preferred.
- Professional certifications such as FIDIC, NEC, or RICS are advantageous.
- Proven experience in managing contracts within construction or foundation engineering sectors, preferably in the GCC region.
- Strong understanding of construction law, UAE regulatory frameworks, and standard contract forms like FIDIC and NEC.
- Capability to draft, negotiate, and manage complex construction contracts.
- Sound commercial and financial insight including cost control, budgeting, claims assessment, and risk evaluation.
- Effective stakeholder engagement and communication skills, coordinated across legal, commercial, and project teams.
- Excellent detail orientation and analytical skills for resolving contract disputes.
- Familiarity with contract management and document control software tools.
- Ability to manage competing priorities within a fast-moving, project-focused on-site environment in Abu Dhabi.
