About the Role
The Cold Mill Operation Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules for the Cold Mill department, ensuring that schedules adhere to predefined rules and start before critical deadlines. This role also covers planning for operational consumable materials and services, while supporting training in Ma’aden Business System (MBS) methodologies to enhance business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure compliance with company safety, health, and environmental standards.
- Manage material planning following procurement guidelines and maintain required PPE usage during operational visits.
- Utilize systems such as Oracle and Manufacturing Excellence System (MES) to create reports and monitor production status daily and weekly.
- Create production schedules that comply with lock-in periods, managing exceptions through formal change requests.
- Address any schedule deviations through corrective actions and consistent follow-up.
- Participate in routine planning and production meetings to discuss and resolve delivery or production challenges.
- Collaborate with logistics, quality control, customer relations, and other teams to address short lead times, trials, qualifications, and stock adjustments.
- Prioritize open orders, ensuring adherence to due dates and regulatory standards including ISO.
- Coordinate the availability, storage, and distribution of operational consumables by liaising with procurement and suppliers.
- Support implementation and auditing of MBS tools like A3 planning, TPM, and Daily Management Boards.
- Identify and assist in implementing improvements and problem-solving initiatives within the department.
Communication and Collaboration
- Work closely with production area managers, planning and MBS managers, logistics coordinators, customer service teams, production leaders, technicians, quality metallurgists, and external suppliers.
- Engage in face-to-face discussions, workshops, and presentations related to MBS practices and production planning.
Job Information
- Maintain accurate production schedules and align activities with relevant stakeholders.
- Lead or participate in improvement projects as necessary.
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline preferred.
- A minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in planning, including at least 3 years focused on production planning for rolling mills or similar industries.
- Understanding of lean manufacturing principles and related methodologies.
Skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to manage complex production scenarios.
- Proficiency with Oracle and advanced supply chain planning software.
- Advanced ability to use Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools for comprehensive documentation.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills suited to diverse stakeholder engagement.
