Civil Inspector

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled Civil Inspector to become a key member of our project supervision team in Abu Dhabi. This role requires a professional with substantial technical knowledge, a sharp eye for detail, and a commitment to ensuring that all project operations meet strict quality, safety, and scheduling standards.

Primary Responsibilities

• Oversee and verify all contractor activities on site, ensuring adherence to approved shop drawings, materials specifications, method statements, and Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs).
• Confirm that materials and workmanship meet defined quality standards.
• Consistently update records to accurately track site work progress for evaluation of contractor's interim payment submissions.
• Identify and report on any site-related issues that could impact project cost or timelines.
• Engage cooperatively yet firmly with contractor teams to maintain productive relationships.
• Enforce compliance with approved Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) procedures both personally and within the contractor’s workforce.
• Review and validate daily reports submitted by the contractor and maintain proper documentation.
• Oversee material sampling and testing processes, ensuring accurate records of materials delivered onsite.
• Collaborate with the Resident Engineer to resolve daily construction site challenges.
• Evaluate and authorize ‘Day work’ records from the contractor.
• Analyze and provide feedback on the contractor’s weekly and monthly progress reports.
• Participate in site-related technical and progress meetings as directed by the Resident Engineer.
• Apply and maintain company quality system standards consistently throughout project tasks.
• Conduct thorough inspections during snagging, de-snagging, and project handover, documenting findings to support issuance of the Taking Over Certificate.
• Monitor and record rectification works during the Defects Liability Period to ensure compliance.

Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering is mandatory.
• Minimum of 8 years of experience in the civil engineering field.
• At least 5 years of working experience within the UAE.
• A minimum of 3 years experience in engineering consultancy roles.
• Prior experience specifically in Abu Dhabi is essential.

Skills and Competencies

• Comprehensive understanding of construction practices, material selection, and relevant equipment.
• Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering plans, specifications, and blueprints.
• Exceptional ability to identify construction defects and errors.
• Strong communication skills and ability to manage professional relationships effectively.
• Ability to maintain detailed and accurate project documentation.
