Role overview

Island Heights Construction is looking for a carpenter to join its construction team in Nanaimo, British Columbia. This is an on-site position, so the work must be completed at the physical location with no remote option.

Responsibilities

• Interpret blueprints, sketches, and drawings to understand project requirements.
• Create layouts that comply with building codes using measuring equipment.
• Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and related materials.
• Construct foundations, install floor beams, place subflooring, and frame walls and roof systems.
• Install windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware.
• Oversee and guide other workers when needed.
• Carry out maintenance, repair, and renovation work on homes and wooden structures in mills, mines, hospitals, industrial facilities, and similar settings.
