Job description
Job Overview
The Buyer at Cavendish Farms plays a pivotal role in the economical and efficient purchasing of all necessary goods and services for the company. This role can involve independently identifying suppliers, soliciting and assessing proposals, and executing agreements. Additionally, the Buyer supports senior management during negotiation processes and ensures smooth implementation of decisions.
Key Duties
- Review purchase requests to confirm correct suppliers, pricing, taxes, and delivery dates, then issue purchase orders and follow up with suppliers to confirm and expedite orders as needed, ensuring timely invoice processing.
- Continuously seek competitive quotations and proposals, identify opportunities for reducing costs, validate market pricing of current contracts, and assist internal stakeholders with purchasing inquiries.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with company-specific and corporate-approved suppliers, document and manage supply agreements using standardized contracts, evaluate proposals with a focus on overall supply chain costs, and optimize all related expenses.
- Organize and manage the asset disposal procedures.
- Monitor and track inbound freight logistics for materials and manage the financial transactions of landed costs.
- All employees must promptly report any issues related to food safety or quality to authorized personnel who can initiate corrective actions.
Qualifications
- University degree or comparable professional experience.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing or supply chain roles.
- Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) certification is an asset.
