Galway Bay FM, known as the Sound of Galway, is the main radio station serving Galway City and County. It operates under a licence from Coimisiún na Meán and has been on air since 1989. Based at its Sandy Road studios in Galway, the station reaches listeners across Galway City and County and is among the largest local radio services in Ireland. It broadcasts on FM, online, through smart speakers, smartphone apps, and the Irish Radio Player.

Role Overview

The station is hiring a Business Development Executive to join its busy Galway team. Reporting to the Sales Manager, you will work as part of the Direct Sales team to maintain and expand an existing client portfolio while also identifying and winning new advertising customers.

What You Will Do

• Handle the full sales process, from finding leads through to closing business.
• Grow revenue by developing fresh, creative, and tailored sales approaches.
• Consistently achieve and exceed weekly and monthly targets.
• Work independently to move deals forward and secure sales.
• Research, prospect, and build a strong pipeline of potential clients.
• Advise prospective customers from a range of industries and prepare suitable advertising proposals.
• Strengthen client retention through excellent service and appropriate upselling.
• Use strong negotiation and closing skills to identify and convert opportunities.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of sales experience in a busy media sales setting.
• Demonstrated success in meeting and surpassing sales targets on a regular basis.
• Proven ability to take initiative and independently close business.
• Strong confidence in prospecting and building opportunity pipelines.
• Excellent negotiation, persuasion, and closing abilities.
• Good organisational skills, time management, and administrative discipline.
• Competence with PCs, Microsoft Office, and related systems.
• Own car and a full driving licence are essential.
• Professional appearance and suitable dress are required.
• Availability for standard office hours from 8:30 to 5:30, plus additional hours when needed.
• Interest in and enthusiasm for media.
• Positive, can-do attitude with a strong motivation to hit targets.

Working Conditions
