About the Role

The Business Development Engineer position is pivotal in advancing growth across the Jointing & Termination and Testing & Commissioning sectors by exploring new business potentials, fostering strategic client partnerships, securing service agreements, and increasing the company's footprint within the MV, HV, and EHV power markets. This role oversees the entire business development lifecycle from gathering market insights and creating opportunities to contract acquisition and ongoing strategic account supervision.

Key Duties

  • Identify, develop, and clinch new business opportunities in medium, high, and extra high voltage power sectors to boost the company’s market share and revenues.
  • Formulate and implement strategies aimed at business expansion and market penetration.
  • Establish and nurture senior-level connections with utilities, EPC contractors, consultants, and pivotal industry participants.
  • Identify future projects, influence their technical specifications, and position the company favorably ahead of tendering phases.
  • Generate revenue streams by securing strategic collaborations, framework agreements, and extended service contracts.
  • Manage the full business development cycle encompassing opportunity identification, negotiation, and contract finalization.
  • Keep track of market dynamics, competitor behavior, and customer needs to uncover strategic growth avenues.

Commercial and Client Engagement

  • Create technical and commercial proposals alongside bid and tender documentation.
  • Lead commercial negotiations safeguarding company interests and enhancing profitability.
  • Develop precise sales forecasts and sustain a robust sales pipeline.
  • Operate as the lead technical and commercial liaison between clients and internal teams.
  • Represent the company in client interactions, technical presentations, and industry-related gatherings.

Qualifications and Expertise

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, preference given to Power Systems or High Voltage Engineering specialization.
  • Between 5 to 8 years’ proven experience in business development, technical sales, or commercial engineering within power transmission.
  • Track record of generating new business and securing contracts in relevant sectors.
  • Exceptional skills in communication, negotiation, presentations, and relationship management.
  • Strong commercial insight with the aptitude to translate opportunities into profitable outcomes.

Technical Knowledge Required

  • Familiar with AC High Voltage Testing methodologies including Partial Discharge (PD), Very Low Frequency (VLF), and Sheath Testing.

  • Familiarity with EPC contracting, tendering processes, commercial proposals, and contractual conditions.
  • Skilled in market analysis, formulation of business development strategies, and use of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) systems.
