Business Analyst

About the Role

Coforge is seeking an experienced Business Analyst with a deep understanding of the Global Distribution System (GDS) product landscape and the airline domain to join our Calgary team. This role requires a detail-oriented professional who will bridge business goals and technical development through comprehensive analysis and documentation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the gathering and analysis of requirements, and define business problems accurately. Produce, validate, and maintain comprehensive Functional Requirement Documents alongside user guides, release notes, and functional documentation ensuring requirements are clear, complete, and traceable.
• Exhibit expertise in Passenger Name Record (PNR), reservations and ticketing processes, ancillary services, retailing and merchandising, fare structuring and pricing, and loyalty program functionalities. Identify areas for product improvement and propose solutions aligned with organizational objectives.
• Engage actively in Agile/Scrum ceremonies including sprint planning, daily standups, reviews, and retrospectives. Take ownership of user story creation, backlog refinement, estimation, and ensure stories are well-defined, testable, and approved. Provide ongoing clarifications to the development teams during sprint cycles.
• Collaborate with project managers, marketing teams, customers, and cross-functional value teams to drive requirement discussions, prioritization, and to manage stakeholder expectations effectively.
• Support all phases of the product lifecycle from sprint planning to release go/no-go decisions, contributing continuous feedback for product enhancement.
• Assist in release planning and promotion including readiness validation, defect tracking, stakeholder alignment, supporting go-live activities and monitoring post-release performance.
• Facilitate customer engagement through product demonstrations, walkthroughs, and feedback sessions to translate user input into actionable improvements fostering strong stakeholder relationships.

Required Qualifications and Skills

• Substantial experience as a Business Analyst within the airline or travel industry domain.
• Strong analytical thinking, problem-solving abilities, and proficiency in documentation.
• Practical experience operating within Agile/Scrum methodologies.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills coupled with stakeholder management expertise.
• Capability to handle multiple priorities efficiently in dynamic work environments.

Preferred Competencies

• Familiarity with airline operational workflows and working knowledge of GDS systems.
• Insight into comprehensive product lifecycle and release management practices.
• Experience in customer-facing roles, including product demonstrations and client interactions.
