Job Purpose
The Shift In-Charge for Steel and Project Cargo is tasked with supervising all shift-related operations involving steel and project cargo at the port. The role is pivotal for ensuring efficient, safe, and compliant shift management, aligned with operational targets and service quality standards.
Responsibilities
- Manage all activities within the shift pertaining to steel and project cargo, ensuring smooth and timely operations.
- Effectively allocate and oversee resources—equipment and manpower—to handle cargo operations during each shift.
- Enforce strict compliance with safety regulations and operational protocols throughout shift activities.
- Maintain client communications during shifts to address immediate operational issues and uphold customer satisfaction.
- Coordinate logistical tasks including loading, unloading, and transportation to optimize cargo movements.
- Analyze operational performance metrics continuously and introduce improvements to enhance efficiency.
- Stay updated with the latest digital and AI developments to integrate modern solutions that support business competitiveness.
Stakeholders
Internal: Heads of Dry Cargo, Logistics, Steel and Project Cargo Operations sections; Line manager and team members within Steel and Project Cargo; other department heads.
External: Potential clients, government and regulatory agencies, trade organizations, and competitors.
Qualifications and Experience
- Educational Qualification: MBA, B.E., or B. Tech in any discipline.
- Experience: 6 to 12 years in steel coil and cargo operations, including expertise in cargo movement, stacking, loading, and unloading.
