Assistant/Associate Buyer

Job Overview

The Assistant/Associate Buyer works closely alongside the Senior Buyer, contributing to product assortment strategy, vendor relations, and performance evaluation. This role involves learning the lifecycle of various product categories and supporting merchandising decisions that align with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze sales metrics, inventory data, and market trends to uncover opportunities and assist in buying decisions.
• Support category planning by curating and maintaining product assortments designed to drive sales and profitability.
• Help manage inventory levels and maintain product selections consistent with the Hive brand identity.
• Handle vendor communications including placing orders, following up, and onboarding new vendors.
• Assist in managing purchase orders from initiation through delivery tracking to meet deadlines.
• Prepare detailed reports for buying meetings and seasonal reviews to facilitate data-driven choices.
• Identify opportunities for reordering, markdowns, aged stock clearance, and return to vendor activities.
• Work collaboratively with multiple departments, adapting priorities to meet evolving business needs.
• Required to work one Saturday per month during peak season.

Qualifications and Skills

• Proficiency with POS systems.
• Experience using MAC OS, iOS devices, Microsoft Office Suite, and Google applications.
• Between 1 and 3 years buying experience in luxury retail.
• Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making capabilities.
• Exceptional detail orientation specifically in inventory management and reporting.
• Strong analytical thinking with the ability to interpret market and sales data effectively.
• Highly collaborative, comfortable working across different teams.
• Adaptable to supporting sales, inventory, and event functions as needed.
• Outstanding communication skills both verbal and written for coordinating with vendors and colleagues.

Additional Information

Starting salary for Assistant Buyer is $55,000, and $60,000 for Associate Buyer, with final compensation based on experience. The role is based at Hive Home in West Palm Beach, FL and may require travel. The expected hourly wage range is $26 to $31 per hour.
