Art Director, Studio & Editorial

About the Role

The Art Director for Studio & Editorial at True Religion is responsible for upholding the visual excellence of all product photography and editorial content. This position leads the creative direction for daily product detail page (PDP) photography and oversees editorial campaigns, capsule projects, and other special initiatives from concept development through to final output. It requires a blend of sharp commercial sensibility, editorial insight, and on-set leadership to ensure a high-output studio produces outstanding imagery across all brand channels.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide art direction for PDP photography across multiple categories including Women's, Men's, Curve, Accessories, Footwear, and Denim, managing aspects such as posing, framing, lighting, and on-set image quality daily.
• Continuously develop and refine the brand's visual standards and creative guidelines for product photography, aiming to elevate the customer’s shopping experience.
• Collaborate with the Creative Director on creating seasonal campaigns and editorial concepts, producing mood boards, shoot treatments, casting selections, and creative presentations.
• Lead art direction for capsule collections, collaborations, social media content, and select editorial productions from briefing through final asset delivery.
• Oversee Capture One sessions, maintain proper file and folder structures, and support digital capture workflows to ensure smooth daily studio operations.
• Review image selections and provide feedback through the retouching phase ensuring brand standards are met in areas such as color accuracy and consistency.
• Research trends in fashion, photography, and culture to infuse innovative direction and fresh perspectives into the brand's visual identity.
• Work closely with cross-functional teams including Photography, Styling, Production, Merchandising, Marketing, and Retouching on every production.

Required Qualifications

• 5 to 8 years of experience in art direction within fashion, apparel, or lifestyle brands.
• Demonstrated expertise in managing high-volume e-commerce photography projects.
• Strong knowledge of photography, lighting, composition, styling, posing, and image selection processes.
• Experience delivering on-set creative direction to photographers, stylists, hair and makeup artists, and models.
• Proficient in Capture One software including session creation, file management, and digital capture workflows.
• Excellent organizational and project management capabilities in dynamic studio environments.
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills to collaborate effectively across departments.

Preferred Experience

• Background in developing seasonal editorial campaigns and brand storytelling.
• Experience working with capsule collections, collaborations, or multi-platform content projects.
• A passion for fashion, streetwear culture, and a drive for visual innovation.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary range from $115,000 to $140,000 annually, dependent on qualifications and experience.

Work Model and Location

This full-time position is located in El Segundo, California, operating on an onsite basis with expectations for in-person collaboration on designated days.
