Job description
Position Overview
Based at either Brindley Park or Opal Creek feedlots, this role requires providing dedicated care to livestock through technical animal husbandry tasks and conducting nutrition assessments to support effective feedlot operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving and inducting all incoming animals into the feedlot system
- Continuous monitoring of animal health status
- Supplying and managing appropriate rations to ensure animals follow optimal finishing pathways
- Precise documentation and data management on animal movements, treatments, and processes such as pregnancy testing
- Administering medication under guidance from veterinary professionals as needed
- Conducting pen riding duties safely and effectively on horseback
- Operating heavy machinery including front end loaders, feed trucks, and skid steers when necessary
- Delivering feed accurately to designated animal pens, optimizing finishing results using modern equipment
- Performing general maintenance and repair of tools and equipment, including use of grinders, welders, and power tools when required
Candidate Profile
- Holds an AQF Advanced Diploma or equivalent qualification, or possesses a minimum of 3 years relevant experience
- Proven ability in cattle handling and livestock management
- Competent in safe horse handling and riding skills
- Skilled in safe operation of machinery, plants, and equipment
- Capacity to promptly identify animal health concerns
- Experience in undertaking animal health procedures and administering treatments safely
- Strong numeracy and literacy capabilities
- Attention to detail with an understanding of quality and compliance standards
- Good computer skills, including keyboard proficiency
Compensation and Benefits
The position offers a base yearly salary ranging between 79,500 and 85,500 AUD, plus superannuation contributions and continuous opportunities for training and professional development.
