Job description
Position Overview
We are looking for a skilled Airfield Operations Coordinator, Journeyman, to manage and coordinate airfield logistics and operations across the Indo-Pacific region. Reporting to the RSOI Coordination Lead, this role focuses on synchronizing airfield activities such as personnel, cargo, and aircraft handling to ensure smooth mission execution in complex and contested environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage daily airfield operations supporting military and commercial flights involved in logistics and missions.
- Orchestrate arrivals, departures, parking, cargo handling, refueling, passenger processing, and ground support.
- Facilitate Reception, Staging, Onward Movement, and Integration (RSOI) processes at theater airfields and expeditionary landing zones.
- Collaborate closely with aerial port personnel, movement control teams, airfield management, logistics planners, and transportation agencies to meet mission demands.
- Track aircraft schedules, cargo flow, airfield capacity, and operational restrictions, offering recommendations for operational improvements.
- Oversee handling equipment, loading/unloading, aircraft servicing, and cargo staging operations.
- Contribute to deployments, contingency airlift missions, disaster relief, and emergency logistics activities.
- Manage customs, agricultural inspections, hazardous cargo protocols, and host nation support impacting airfield functions.
- Prepare detailed reports, summaries, and executive briefings on operations and cargo throughput for government leadership.
- Ensure adherence to Department of Defense transportation policies, flight line safety measures, contractual agreements, and airfield procedures.
- Maintain comprehensive records including airfield logs, cargo documentation, aircraft movement, and planning materials.
- Support exercises, deployment rehearsals, and airfield readiness evaluations.
- Enhance interoperability and operational efficiency by coordinating with coalition partners, commercial carriers, and host nation agencies.
- Promote safety, synchronization, and ongoing process enhancement in airfield operations.
- Enable rapid coordination and adaptability in distributed and contested logistics scenarios.
Qualifications
Required:
- At least 5 years of practical experience in airfield operations, aerial port operations, logistics coordination, movement control, or related deployment activities within Government or DoD settings.
- Background supporting Department of Defense entities, Joint commands, Combatant Commands, Air Mobility Command, U.S. Transportation Command, or Special Operations groups.
- Proficient in managing aircraft ground operations, cargo movement, passenger processing, and airfield logistics.
- Experience with RSOI, deployment planning, or theater sustainment operations.
- Skilled in preparing operational reports, cargo documentation, schedules, and coordination artifacts.
- Proven ability to liaise and coordinate with multiple agencies while meeting tight operational deadlines and priorities.
Preferred:
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Aviation Management, Transportation Management, Supply Chain, Military Science, Business, or related fields.
- Experience with USSOCOM, SOCPAC, Geographic Combatant Commands, AMC, USTRANSCOM, Joint Task Forces, or Service Component HQs.
- Familiarity with Indo-Pacific operations, expeditionary airfield management, contested logistics, distributed sustainment, or multinational logistics.
- Knowledgeable in systems such as GATES, CMOS, TC-AIMS II, GCCS-J, JOPES, Power BI, SharePoint, Microsoft 365, and SmarTrack.
- Understanding of airfield management, aerial port operations, hazardous materials handling, joint deployment doctrine, and Defense Transportation System policies.
- Professional certifications like CPL, CLTD, CSCP, PMP, or Air Transportation Career Development credentials are advantageous.
- Experience supporting TS/SCI operations, Special Operations Forces, expeditionary airfield management, contingency deployments, and Indo-Pacific distributed logistics is highly desirable.
