Role Overview
We are seeking a full-time Accountant to work on-site in Dar es Salaam. The role involves managing daily financial operations such as documenting financial transactions, overseeing the general ledger, preparing journal entries, and reconciling bank and supplier accounts. The accountant will be responsible for generating financial statements and periodic management reports, assisting with budgeting and forecasting activities, and monitoring cash flow. Additional duties include handling accounts payable and receivable, verifying invoice accuracy, expense monitoring, and ensuring timely processing of payments and collections.
The candidate will also support external audit processes, guarantee adherence to local tax and regulatory standards, assist in inventory and cost analysis, and collaborate with operational teams and management by offering clear financial insights to guide decision-making.
Candidate Qualifications
- Solid skills in accounting and bookkeeping including ledger management, journal entries, and account reconciliations.
- Capability in generating financial reports, managing budgets, and supervising cash flow with accuracy.
- Experience managing accounts payable and receivable functions, invoice auditing, and expense control.
- Familiarity with local taxation laws, compliance procedures, and audit support.
- Competency with accounting software and Microsoft Excel features such as spreadsheets, pivot tables, and basic financial modeling.
- Strong attention to detail, numerical ability, and systematic problem-solving skills.
- Good communication skills and aptitude for teamwork with diverse departments.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a relevant discipline; professional accounting certifications like CPA are a plus.
- Exposure to trading, manufacturing, or industrial sectors is advantageous; knowledge of inventory and cost accounting is beneficial.
- Readiness to work physically in Dar es Salaam and manage responsibilities under time-sensitive conditions.
Minimum education
Bachelor's Degree
