Role Overview
This entry-level role is designed for trades or technical individuals interested in data centre facility management. As a Data Centre Technician based in Artarmon, Sydney, you will work within the facilities team operating around the clock on a 24/7 rotating shift roster to support daily operations through hands-on maintenance and technical assistance.
Key Responsibilities
- Install and deliver cabling (electrical and data) to customer racks and designated areas.
- Respond promptly to Remote Hands service requests.
- Support vendor management for upkeep of core electrical and mechanical systems.
- Identify and resolve facility issues efficiently and in a timely fashion.
- Continuously monitor building management and other critical systems, escalating issues internally or to vendors as needed.
- Ensure visitors and contractors comply with NEXTDC facility policies and safety procedures.
- Perform manual handling duties as part of operational tasks.
- Occasionally travel between different sites during shifts if required.
Qualifications and Attributes
- Strong customer service focus with clear communication and proactive attitude.
- Basic understanding of data centres, cabling, and cable management is advantageous.
- Enthusiasm for learning about telecommunications infrastructure and operational systems.
- Interest in problem-solving and practical hands-on technical work.
- Preferred qualifications include TAFE Certificate in Telecommunications, Trade Certificates such as Electrician or HVAC Technician.
- Must be an Australian citizen due to security clearance requirements.
