The internship includes a two-day orientation to familiarize interns with the corporate culture, expectations, and their role. It commences mid-November after university exams, pauses for about three weeks during the Christmas and New Year holidays, and concludes early February before participants return for their final academic year. Each intern joins a group of over 150 peers, fostering collaborative learning and career foundation building.

Prior to the start date, interns are connected with a buddy to support integration into the Deloitte family. Those interested in post-internship graduate roles receive guidance and feedback, with many securing graduate contracts without reapplying. The internship is open exclusively to students with one remaining year of study; final-year students may directly apply to graduate roles.

Role Details

This distinctive internship offers dual exposure: participants spend half their time with the Digital Assurance team and the other half in the Audit team. This rotation delivers hands-on experience in both disciplines, broadening knowledge and interactions within the business.

The Digital Assurance team collaborates closely with financial auditors to understand clients’ enterprises, strategies, processes, IT frameworks, and associated risks. They monitor emerging IT technologies and assist in crafting audit plans to address financial risks linked to these technologies. The team aids clients in enhancing IT control governance maturity across various sectors.

The Audit team helps stakeholders gain confidence in financial statements by verifying accuracy and completeness. Work involves varied team sizes tailored to client scope, providing opportunities to partner with diverse professionals and benefit from mutual learning.

Typical Daily Activities

• Collaborating with project teams, internal experts, clients, and leadership.
• Analyzing business operations and understanding client priorities.
• Evaluating risks such as fraud and IT vulnerabilities.
• Reviewing client controls and financial processes, proposing enhancements.
• Offering support regarding corporate governance, risk management, and sustainability challenges.

Candidate Profile and Requirements

• No prior experience is necessary, though roles or internships in accounting, finance, IT, business analytics, law, customer service, retail or hospitality are advantageous.
• Currently enrolled in a bachelor's program majoring in Accounting, Finance, or related fields including IT, Data Science, Commerce, Business, Science, Economics, Finance, or Statistics.
• Possesses analytical skills, attention to detail, and curiosity about new technologies.
• Exhibits adaptability and resilience, demonstrating perseverance through challenges.
• Able to collaborate effectively as a team member and communicate findings clearly to stakeholders.
