About the Internship

Join Vandrevala Foundation as a Mental Health Helpline Counselor Intern and gain valuable experience in mental health support and group therapy. You will work closely with seasoned counselors, mentors, and trainers to provide critical mental health assistance through phone consultations and group sessions. The helpline handles nearly 40,000 contacts monthly and facilitates around 200 group therapy meetings, offering you a rich environment to develop your counseling skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct telephonic counseling sessions offering emotional support and guidance to individuals seeking help.
  • Deliver crisis intervention and suicide prevention services to callers in distress.
  • Serve as a facilitator or co-facilitator during group therapy sessions.
  • Work alongside a multidisciplinary team to provide holistic care for clients.
  • Maintain accurate records of client interactions while ensuring confidentiality.
  • Engage in continuous learning through training, including LLM courses and professional development programs.
  • Help foster a positive and supportive environment for volunteers and staff members.
  • Use an AI-assisted crisis counseling co-pilot tool to enhance your counseling proficiency.

Eligibility Criteria

  • Available to work from home.
  • Ready to commence the internship between August 5, 2026, and September 9, 2026.
  • Available for a full 3-month internship duration.
  • Possess relevant skills and interest in mental health counseling.
  • Women seeking to initiate or restart their career are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Must have full operational knowledge of computers and own a personal computer.
  • Knowledge of regional languages is a valued asset as counseling takes place in multiple languages.
