Role Overview
We are seeking a dependable, hands-on Yards Person to support a civils reactive contract. This position sits at the centre of day-to-day site operations and focuses on keeping the yard organised, safe, and running smoothly. The role combines yard control with plant tracking, stock oversight, procurement support, minor repairs, vehicle upkeep coordination, and accurate record management.
About the Business
Cappagh Browne Utilities Ltd is a dedicated joint venture created to provide wastewater network maintenance and repair services for Southern Water across the South of England. The organisation helps keep sewer networks working effectively through planned servicing, emergency response work, and rehabilitation projects. Its operations are backed by a large fleet of specialist equipment, including vacuum tankers, jetting units, and CCTV survey tools, all supported by modern technology that enables quick diagnosis and practical solutions. Known for its emphasis on safety, dependability, and technical capability, the business plays an important part in protecting communities and sustaining essential infrastructure.
Key Duties
Your focus will be on maintaining an orderly and efficient yard while helping the wider team with plant, stock, and purchasing tasks. You will monitor and record equipment movements, make sure machinery is inspected and available when needed, arrange plant hires, support stock control, and assist with ordering materials. Where possible, you will also carry out simple repairs, help coordinate vehicle maintenance, and keep all documentation accurate and current.
What We’re Looking For
This opportunity suits someone who enjoys practical work, takes pride in keeping things organised, and wants to contribute to a busy, high-performing team. You should be proactive, reliable, and comfortable balancing multiple priorities. Experience in a yard, construction, or civils setting is helpful but not essential.
Additional Requirements
- Confidence using basic IT systems to manage stock and records
- Strong attention to detail and good organisational ability
- Clear communication skills and the ability to work well with others
- A positive, hands-on attitude and willingness to take initiative
- Ability to manage your workload and prioritise tasks effectively
- A full UK driving licence is required
What You Can Expect
You will join a supportive and hardworking team where your contribution will be valued. The role offers variety, practical responsibility, and opportunities to build your skills and develop within the business.
