About the Role
Tata Consultancy Services Ltd. is seeking an experienced Trino Administrator to join their teams in Hyderabad, Bangalore, or Mumbai. This position requires a professional with deep expertise in managing and optimizing distributed SQL engines, particularly Trino and Presto. The ideal candidate will handle large-scale SQL workloads, ensure security configurations, and maintain cluster performance for a seamless data query environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support Trino clusters effectively, ensuring stability and scalability.
- Configure, install, and optimize the Trino engine and its catalog setups.
- Integrate Trino with external data sources such as Hive, HDFS, and S3 for comprehensive data accessibility.
- Conduct query performance tuning and apply cluster optimization techniques to improve efficiency.
- Enforce security protocols including Kerberos, LDAP authentication, and SSL to protect data integrity.
- Monitor cluster health continuously and troubleshoot any performance or system issues promptly.
- Administer catalog and connector configurations with platforms including Hive, Iceberg, and S3.
- Apply Linux/Unix shell scripting skills to automate tasks and enhance system management.
- Implement and uphold industry best practices regarding distributed SQL system management.
Required Skills and Expertise
- Extensive experience (4-6 years) managing and supporting Trino or Presto distributed SQL engines.
- Strong knowledge of Hive and HDFS integration within SQL engines.
- Proficient in connector configuration, especially for S3, Hive, Iceberg, and similar sources.
- Skilled in query performance tuning, cluster optimization, and system monitoring.
- Experienced in security frameworks using Kerberos, LDAP, and SSL.
- Competent in Linux/Unix system administration and shell scripting.
- Familiarity with distributed SQL engine management best practices.
